Also, after 8 hours, I still feel satisfied.no 'hungry after one hour' with this type of food.Service was very friendly and efficient, accomplished with a genuine smile. I certainly was full, but I didn't feel 'heavy'. Both dishes were presented very nicely, with a large sprig of parsley and a fresh purple flower on each plate. As a tribute to the chef, even after eating this much food, I didn't have that typical 'stuffed' feeling you get after eating at many Chinese restaurants. All the vegetables were crisp, and the sauce enhanced their flavors without overpowering them. with large romaine leaves stacked up for you to make your own rollups. This dish is their interpretation of Mu Shu Pancakes, and it is quite successful as such.

Finally, out came the Vegetable Medley Lettuce Wraps with pine nuts ($13). The mushrooms were cooked to perfection, just chewy enough while retaining some crispness. Again, this dish had the perfect level of spice, and did not leave me with a greasy feeling at all. The first to arrive was Jade Mushroom ($12), which is composed of thinly sliced mushrooms marinated in a sweet, spicy sauce, served over a beautiful bed of kale, along with brown rice. Although fried, of course, there was no greasy mouth feel, and the watercress, when combined with the mango sauce and the crunch of the wonton, was perfect!I ordered two mains. Wonderful flavors all around, but warn your server if you don't like cilantro! Along with the soup, I had the Crispy Watercress & Soy Cheese wontons with mango sauce ($5). I could tell that the soup wasn't heated in a microwave. The soup arrived piping hot, with just the right amount of spice. I would never order this much food normally, but I figured I could take home what I couldn't finish.I started with the Hot & Sour soup ($4), which was served with a generous cutting of fresh cilantro floating on the surface along with very finely sliced tofu.

Before I list what I ordered, let me say that on this particular day I had done a 5 hour hike, but had nothing to eat until I got to Vegan Palate around 4:30. Perfect atmosphere for a date, or a large dining party. Lighting is subdued, but sufficient for reading the menu. Seating is very comfortable, with pillows provided for extra cushion if you need them. I was impressed with the attention to detail: the flower arrangement and lit candle on each table, as well as the placemats that match the restaurants' color scheme. There is a very nice bar, along with several well appointed tables. They have separate kitchens, which is important for those concerned with cross contamination. The entrance to Vegan Palate is around back. The nondescript building houses two restaurants, and the one fronting the road is called Sakura, which offers conventional (non-vegan) Chinese buffet. Upon entering, I could tell I was going to be in for a pleasant surprise. Some of them even add chicken stock to make things 'taste better', which nauseates most of us vegans. Lots of Chinese restaurants do vegetarian and vegan dishes, and most do them badly, with grease drowning overcooked vegetables. My expectations for this restaurant were not very high.
